Today's word battle is brought to you by the wonderful Ender.
When I picked Ender up from school yesterday he was conspicuously wearing the spare pants and underwear that had been tucked into his backpack and stored in his classroom cubby.
I was hoping against hope that some pant destroying tragedy such as spilled juice, a knocked over water activity, half a Santa cut-out stuck to his butt from the art table or anything, really, that doesn't involve bodily fluids would turn out to be responsible.
The fact-finding mission went like this:
Me: Hey buddy - how come you're wearing your spare joggies?
E: I peed in my pants.
Me: How come?
E: I had an accident.
Me: Ok, honey, I get that, but why?
E: Because I didn't go to the bathroom to pee.
Me: I see where you're going with that. But why did you go in your pants instead of in the potty?
E: Oh. It was too bright outside.
Pardon?
Me: Too bright out? I don't understand...
E: I was outside playing and I had to pee and when I looked at the door to the classroom, to go inside to go to the potty, the sun was very very bright in my eyes and I could not see the door! So I couldn't go inside the door to pee.
Me: So - you couldn't get inside to pee because the sun was hurting your eyes?
E: Yes, mommy. It was very very bright.
Me: Well. I have to give you points for creativity. But tomorrow, just ask a teacher to help ok?
E: Ok mommy. Maybe they will have sunglasses or something.
Let's hope...
What is the funniest or most creative reason or excuse your little one has given for having an accident? There has to be some good ones out there and I want to hear them!

The Moron Test
Ender and I were cuddling on the couch this morning and I let him play with my iPhone. Rich woke up and came into the living room to ruin it with his judginess. Yes that is another made up word.
R: Why is Ender playing with your phone, what is he doing?
me: Browsing apps and now he is doing the Moron Test.
R: Why do you have a moron test app on your iPhone?
Are you concerned that you are a moron?
me: What? No! I just.. it's just reassuring to know...
R: So then you DO suspect you may be a moron.
me: Why are you being like this?
R: I'm not being anything except afraid you'll discover you're a moron.
me: I'm done talking to you.
Tomorrow I am the one who gets to sleep in and we'll see who wins morning word battle then!

Picture Song and Breaking up with a Cold
Woke up at about 4:30am today with a coughing fit. "Hello Cold" I thought to myself. Then I said "You know Cold, you're a real jerk" and I tried to break up with it because it's not just being attentive and interested in me anymore, now it's just being clingy and stalker like. I'm just not getting anything out of the relationship, you know what I mean?
I know, I know, you guys are getting that vibe how when one of your friends keeps complaining about her boyfriend or husband, 'Oh he's such a jerk he did blah blah blah' and after 6 months of listening and sympathizing you just want to punch her in the face and tell her to either break up or shut up. Please don't punch me - I'm actively taking steps to get rid of this Cold-person.
Now the Cold is trying to break up my marriage by making me look stupid and annoying. This is what it did to sabotage my marriage this morning:

Me singing (upon walking in house after dropping Ender*): 'I thought about you for a long time, can't seem to get you off of my mind, I can't understand why we're living life this waaaaaaay'. (by Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow)
R: Stop doing that, you're going to hurt your voice.
Me: Wait what? I don't sound like Sheryl Crow?
R: No.
Me: Oh. Well, do I sound like Kid Rock?
R: A little - but more gravelly. I'm not a fan.
Me: *mumble* I made R's ears sad. Thanks Cold.
And the Cold is SO not invited to Thanksgiving. Seriously it had better not even think of showing itself after today. I'll even help it pack up and move on out. Of my body.
Do you think the Cold will sit around somewhere listening to 'Picture' after it leaves? The irony!

*at preschool, not on the ground
UPDATE: And it had better give me my damn voice back when it leaves!!

PETA will now target the mom'n'pop taco place next door
It's Sunday night and I've realized that my body is trying to kill me. I've not been this sick with a chest/throat cold since Christmas '97 when my brother couldn't stop laughing because I 'sounded like a duck'. This time around I sound like a duck again, but a really sick duck.
So R has been trying to help and that's really cool of him. Tonite he was going to take care of dinner.
R: I don't know what to do about dinner. I don't feel like making anything and the weather is too gross to go outside to pick anything up.
Me: (croaks) You could get delivery.
R: Ugh. I don't even feel like doing that.
Me: (gasps) Just take care of you and E. I can only have hot liquid.
R: Do you want a burrito?
Me: A hot liquid burrito? Isn't that just diarrhea?
R: So no then?
Me: Share one with E.
R: He can't have a whole half of a burrito. It's way too big.... (goes and grabs coat and puts jeans on) I'm going out to get a burrito. E - do you want a burrito? And a churooodle?
Me: What? They have churro/poodle hybrids? I want one. Also PETA is going to be pissed!
R: No, a churrrrrrrrrrrrddle.
Me: Are you trying to say 'churro' with an accent? You have a terrible fake accent. I like it!
R: I'm leaving.
*******20 minutes later R returns home with food*******
.
Me: Can I have half that burrito?

Typical Morning Conversation
Neither Rich nor I are typically morning people. So this morning's exchange is the sort of conversation we have before 10:00am.
Me: You have a douche patch back on your face.
Hubby: It's a soul patch. Did you know that jazz trumpeters originally grew these in the '50's because they found it was comfortable for the mouthpiece. WikiProof!
Me: You're not a jazz trumpeter.
Hubby: But I used to be!
Me: Did you have doucheface then?
Hubby: No.
Me: Then your argument is invalid.
Hubby: You're invalid.
The end.
Are you a morning person? Do you have random conversations in the morning that lead nowhere? What's the strangest/funniest one you've had?
